If you’re bothered by pictures of feet, than don’t click the “read more” link at the bottom. If you can deal with looking at a picture of my left foot so you can see what the tattoo I got back in January looks like, than click away!
Growing up, my dad always made fun of my second toe. Well, more like everyone always made fun of my second toe, but my dad loved it. (It’s shorter than it’s supposed to be!) When something about yourself is different as a child, no matter what it is, you usually dislike it. I never found my dads jokes funny about my toe, and always dismissed them. Thinking back, I dismissed a lot of his jokes. I wish someone had told me then how much I’d miss those bad jokes when he was no longer around.
One day Emily and I were getting pedicures, and we got to talking about our feet. The story came up about how much my dad used to love my second toe. I told her how much he used to joke around and tell me to tattoo a face on it. We both looked at each other with the same look on our faces - the famous “LETS DO IT!” look. I remember thinking to myself, “why had I not thought about doing this before?” So, I faced my major fear of needles and tattoos, and decided to be spontaneous for a change. Later that day I tattooed a smiley face on my, abnormally small, second toe. Yes, extremely silly and a little weird, but I did it in honor of my Daddy. He too was extremely silly and a little weird, but then again, so am I. :)
